Grammar Power!

There's a little car I sometimes see parked in my neighborhood with a great personalized license plate. It reads GRMR PWR. Now, I could be misinterpreting it, but I call it the "grammar power" car. It's an unassuming little vehicle, but I like to imagine it's the transportation for a grammar-correcting superhero. Maybe his name is "Captain Apostrophe". Maybe he's riding around town, correcting the grammar, spelling and punctuation on all the billboards and signs, keeping the public safe from split infinitives. Wouldn't that be great?

Love it! The name Captain Apostrophe seems somehow to suit that diddy little car perfectly! I shall be on the lookout for more of the grammatical family of cars today.

Ha,ha... That's great. Perhaps he wears a cape with a big "!" on it. I'm a fan of exclamation points :)

litlove--I'm sure there are more out there!

logophile--we need him around here, there are so many public grammatical abuses!

iliana--I love the cape! Now he's got a costume, in my mind! Excellent :)

That's the cutest car I've ever seen. I'd love to know what it really stands for. I've almost run off the road before trying to figure out what a vanity license plate means. Not sure about everyone else, but we could use a grammar superhero around my area. I'm not perfect with grammar, but it drives me crazy when there are mistakes on billboards and signs.

Ha ha, you really made me smile. I love the name- it's great! And the thought of a little apostrophe shortening a word just matches that little car.

Excellent car of choice for a grammar superhero!

lisa--lol, I'm always trying to figure out what vanity plates are saying without running off the road, too. And sadly, John (comment below yours) is probably right, this is most likely a proud grandma's car!

john--I know, I went there, too. But I couldn't resist the idea of a grammar superhero!

jeane--glad I made you smile!

stefanie--there are quite a few of those "smart" cars tootling around my neighborhood. And we're lousy with Priuses, too--or would that be Prii? Anyway, I imagine Captain Apostrophe would be concerned with the environment, too :)

What a fantastic idea! Next time I see a bad sign or blurb I'll imagine him hot-footing it across the Atlantic!

eloise--Lol, I'm sure he is out there defending grammar everywhere!
