Here's today's Booking Through Thursday question:
What’s the most enjoyable, most fun, most just-darn-entertaining book you’ve read recently?
(Mind you, this doesn’t necessarily mean funny, since we covered that already. Just … GOOD.)
This is one in a series of Booking Through Thursdays about your recent "most" books--today it's most enjoyable recent book.It's an easy one, since I'm right in the middle of a page-turner that I'm having trouble putting down at night.
I'm reading Kathryn Stockett's The Help, and it's very enjoyable. When I'm not reading it, I want to get back to it. For me, that's the sign of a good book.
And it's also one of those books I knew nothing about, except that everybody was reading it. Sometimes, for me, that's the kiss of death--but this book has not been a disappointment. I'll review it soon...

I loved The Help, but I listened to it. It's in the running for my favorite audio of the year.
JoAnn--Ooh, it would be a good one to listen to. Who reads it on the audio book?
I won a copy of The Help but haven't started it yet. I was going to hold off and suggest it to my book group but I'm not sure I can wait that long. You know how that goes :)

I love books like that--ones that are hard to put down. :-) I've been really wanting to read this one.
I loved The Help!! Great pick! I'm glad you are enjoying it as well. I know what you mean about the 'kiss of death' when a book gets so much hype, but this is certainly the exception to the rule! Happy reading!
I am definitely reading this as soon as it comes out in paperback over here. I'm currently reading Malice Aforethought by Frances Iles, written and set in the 1930s, a piece of classic golden age crime, and it's a hoot. Sinister and funny at the same time.
I agree about The Help - most thoroughly engaging book I've read since The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. Hated to put either of them down and couldn't wait until I could pick them up again and re-enter their world.
There are multiple readers on the audio version, and each one is fabulous! I recently got an e-mail from audible.com that said this is their highest rated audio ever.

This one seems to be getting a lot of buzz but glad to hear it's living up to all the raves!
My most enjoyable recent book? Hmm, I'd go with Matrimony by Joshua Henkin. I sort of put that one off when it first came out because of all the buzz but it was very good.
Iliana--I enjoyed Matrimony, too! And I hear you about the buzz--sometimes a turn-off, sometimes books live up to it!
Hmm. Seems I'm wowed much less often these days. I enjoyed Revolutionary Road, but not so much I couldn't part with my copy.
I have high hopes for the new Lorrie Moore!

I've heard so much about The Help. Must check it out. My recent goodie was The Poisonwood Bible. I recommend it to just about everyone!
Rosemary--I loved The Poisonwood Bible--My favorite of her novels, I think. I also really enjoyed Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, her most recent non-fiction.
This one has been all over everyone's radar! I know I have to read it...soon! I'm saving it for long weekend so I can indulge in it.
