I remember last year around this time I posted photos of the wisteria in my back yard. This year I'm forcing everyone to look at the night-blooming jasmine that has exploded into bloom over the last couple of weeks.
It smells so beautiful in the late afternoon and evening, I find myself ducking out the back door every once in awhile just to get a nose-full of the sweet scent--it helps me get through my toddler's "witching hour" before bed.
This is how it looks cascading over the--what is that thing that covers your deck called? A pergola? Well, the jasmine covers that structure that covers our deck.
I wonder if "pergola" is a word on Free Rice...

Beautiful,just so beautiful! That is funny - I wrote about flowers and the garden, not books, yesterday too.

booksplease--clearly we're on the same wavelength! Not only did you post about gardening, but you also posted a picture of a nice pile of books, including something by Penelope Lively, as did I. But her memoir that I have on my stack will be the first I've read of her work. Do you have a novel of hers to recommend?
jeane--I haven't been to Free Rice in awhile, either--but mainly because I can waste far too much time there :)
tanabata--the smell is really something else! Is spring approaching in Japan? I remember your picture of wisteria from last year, so I was wondering when that lovely flower shows up again for you!

The plum blossoms are out and the days are a bit warmer so spring is certainly on its way here. The cherry blossoms should start to flower later this month and that's when spring truly feels like it's here to stay. I had to look up the date when we took those wisteria pictures last year, and it was the beginning of May. Not too much longer. :)j
robin--It was crazy! All of a sudden, boom, bunches of fragrant white blooms, as white as snow, covering my deck :)
